Lately, this blog hasn’t felt like home anymore. I’ve been wondering what the heck happened. Where did all of my loyal readers and commenters go? But then, a good friend helped me realize that maybe, this means a season in my life has ended. I recently started putting my heart and soul into building a business with my jewelry making and right now, that feels like what I need to focus on. So, without further ado, I bid you, my food blogging friends, farewell. I hope that you have found something to take away from this blog as I have; it has been one of the most healing things in my recovery that I have ever done.
Peace and Namaste,
Beadie

Good morning, blog friends!! I hope you all are doing well on this lovely Tuesday morning! I seem to be counting the minutes until FRIDAY!!
For some reason, I got up early yesterday but still ended up running late. So late, that cereal was really my only breakfast option shy of a bar or something like that. I made a bowl of TJ’s Morning Lite with milk, banana and a PB spoon. I’m not sure how I liked the PB spoon in the cold cereal. Obviously, it doesn’t get all warm and melty that way.

As per usual, I had lunch at my desk and relied on the loot I picked up last week at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. Hummus and tabouleh is probably my all time favorite food combination and that is just what I had. Whole Foods mixed whole grain tabouleh with TJ’s white bean hummus. I dotted it with a little rooster sauce for a spicy kick. It was a good lunch but I do think I prefer tabouleh to be made with bulgur only.

For lunch dessert, I had a cascade fresh strawberry yogurt. Once again, it was pretty standard pre-flavored yogurt.

Just before heading out of work for the day, I had a snack to tide me over. A small salad with low salt lowfat cottage cheese, a wasa cracker and bolthouse dressing.

After work, I met the DH at the gym for a sweat session. I did a 35 minute walk/run on the treadmill followed by about 40 minutes of full body weights. After a couple of weeks of consistently lifting weights, two things have happened. One, I am building baby muscles and two, I am learning how much weight I can actually lift. It has been a fun process and I am really enjoying the way I feel when I get in these great workouts. Anyway, when I left the gym, I snacked on half of this odwalla bar and gave the other half to the DH.

Once home and showered, I made an easy dinner. Seasoned pork chops over whole wheat couscous

and sauteed spinach.

And for dessert, I had a few grapes.

After dinner was done, it was time to relax with some HGTV and call it a night. Round two starts soon!
What is your favorite lunch in the summertime?

Happy Monday, blog friends!! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I sure did, I only wish it were a few days longer ;)
Yesterday, I woke up and nursed my coffee as I blogged and FINALLY caught up on my google reader. I hate it when that thing is overflowing! Anyway, I had a pre breakfast snack of Liberte six grains peach yogurt. The yogurt texture is pretty standard for pre-flavored yogurt but what I love about it is the cooked grains that a inside; they give the yogurt a nice chew.

For real breakfast, I made a bowl of steel cut oats mixed with rolled oat on the stop top. I cooked them with milk, water and a banana. At the end, I stirred in a little vanilla bean paste and topped each bowl with a spoon of crunchy PB. You probably can not tell from the photo, but because I had the yogurt, I only had a small portion in a snack size bowl.

I spent the morning making jewelry

and finally made lunch around 1. I reheated the pizza from Saturday night

and shared some mixed fruit with the DH for dessert.

We had to go back to Carytown in the late afternoon and when we got back it was almost dinner time. I made cheeseburgers with very lean ground beef and arnold sandwich thins. And once again, I have a decieving photo. It looks like the burger is piled high with cheese but actually, it is one piece folded into 4 squares so it would fit :D I topped my burger with tomato, pickles, ketchup and grainy mustard.

On the side, I made sweet potato wedges seasoned with salt and pepper.

For dessert, I had a mini chocolate ice cream cone that we bought from Target. It was just the right amount as it is only about 3 inches tall.

After dinner, we tried watching Australia but couldn’t seem to get into it so we just watched HGTV. It was a nice weekend, now onto a new week of working for the weekend :)

Yesterday, I had a really fun day with my DH. We both got up early to get started on our day and had cereal for breakfast. I had a bowl of TJ’s morning lite with banana, milk and chocolate protein powder. It was remarkable but it got the job done and only took a few seconds to prepare.

We needed a fast breakfast because we were going yard selling! It isn’t something we do very often anymore but I am in the market for vintage buttons that don’t cost an arm and a leg and that is one of the ways to get them cheap. Anyway, we headed out and made our rounds before finally heading to Carytown to spend the morning looking for buttons and other beading supplies. When we got there, we stopped into Ellwood’s Community Place for a latte.

I ordered a vanilla iced latte and it was super tasty.

After our fuel, we set out of a very fun adventure. We spent the morning rummaging through the vintage and antique shops and finally broke for lunch around 12:30. We went to the bakers crust and I ordered exactly the same thing as last time. Half a Malibu sandwich which features turkey, muenster cheese, sprouts, tomato and guacamole

and half a spinach salad with hot bacon dressing.

The salad has a little goat cheese crouton that I saved for dessert.

Lunch was superb and we left feeling satisfied. We ran a couple more errands and then headed home to play with my new botton stash. We ended up heading out for a couple more errands and finally got home for an early dinner. We made leftovers pizza which started as a plain cheese Archers Farms frozen pizza and I topped it with loads of grilled veggies, chicken sausage and more cheese.

I also roasted some broccoli on the side.

Later on, for dessert, I had a bowl of Fage with mixed fresh fruit and honey. The fruit really bulked up the bowl so I couldn’t eat even half of the portion I made for myself. The DH was happy to finish it off for me.

We ended the evening by watching a few episodes of Weeds and then off to dreamland we went. It was a super fun, relaxing day, just the way a Saturday should be.
What have you been up to this weekend?

Before I get started, my cupcake earrings contest is officially over and the winner is Brittany from Eating Bird Food. I used random.org to pick the number and was so surprised. The crazy part about it is that Brittany and I met a while back, well, we have met twice now, but the first time, we even talked about the cupcake earrings! So, it seems pretty full circle to me!! Congrats Brittany, I emailed you and we can make arrangements for you to get the earrings! Thanks to all who participated in the contest, it was fun!
OK, now, onto the food. For breakfast yesterday, I had a bowl of banana oat bran with TJ’s crunchy peanut butter. For some reason, it was not as filling as it usually is and I was hungry for lunch super early.

Lunch was going to be very late in the day so I snacked on a peanut crunch odwalla bar. You all know by now, this one is my one true bar love. It is loaded with peanuts and full of creamy peanut buttery oats.

Oddly enough, it kept me satisfied for a really long time. Almost three hours to be exact. By the time work calmed down and my stomach started to growl again, I was in awe of the little bars holding power. For lunch, T picked up sushi for us again and I was pleased to have it one more time ;) She got me a shrimp dynomyte roll and a fresh veggie spring roll. It was delicious and not as filling as the shrimp spring roll from the other day. (I just realized that I did not take pictures of my lunch but it basically looked like this day. )
I ended up working late in order to get everything I needed to done so by the time I got home, I was thankful I had planned a fast and easy dinner. I made omelets with leftover grilled veggies and cheese

with toast for dessert. I used 100% whole wheat arnold sandwich thing and lather one side with smart balance light and grape jam

and the other side with smart balance light and local honey sweetened apple butter. Spectacular!

Later on, after watching the Grey’s Season finale (holy clif hanger!!) I snacked on a bowl of fage with lemon curd and crushed nilla wafers.

I made much too large of a portion and overate for sure. I think the stress relief of the week being over, being tired and it being delicious all contributed to the over eating. But, overall, I think I handled the week well. I diverted a couple of “bingy” feelings and made it through the week binge free. And besides a couple of extra lattes, I ate fairly well and exercised. I have to say, I feel proud of my accomplishment.
